Harry A. Davis
Age 83 of Brighton passed away on January 27, 2013 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born August 17, 1929 in Detroit, MI a son of Harry and Mary (Phillips) Davis. On September 6, 1987 he married Carol Lou Fronk in Brighton.
Harry was a graduate of Brighton High School, Eastern Michigan University, and the School of Dentistry, University of Michigan. He served two years as a captain in the U.S. Army, Dental Corp. He had a dental practice in Brighton from 1957 until 2010. Harry was a life member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Livingston County Dental Society; and was an active member of the Michigan Dental Association serving on several standing committees. He was also active in the local societies, serving as President of the Washtenaw Dental Society. Harry participated with the organization and construction of the VINA Dental Clinic, which was the most meaningful activity of his 55 years in the dental profession. Harry served on the Brighton Area School Board of Education and was a trustee and appointed member of Brighton Township Planning Commission. He was also a member and past president of the Brighton Rotary Club; as well as a member of Livingston Players. Harry was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brighton for over sixty years and loved to study the history of Brighton and that of the Methodist Church. A true baseball fan, he had a great love of the Detroit Tigers. He played baseball and softball and coached little league baseball for several years. He also enjoyed doing family genealogy.
Harry is survived by his wife, Carol; children: James (Sharon), Charlotte, and John (Caron); stepsons: Jason (Kim) Carpenter and John (Laura) Carpenter; grandchildren: Raquel Jackson, Michael Gerkin, Jourdan Davis, and Patrick Davis; step grandchildren Jacob and Emily Carpenter; and great grandson Abraham Jackson.
