Obituary for Kevin Ladd
Kevin A. Ladd, 35 years old, from Whitmore Lake, passed away late Friday, February, 15, 2008. Kevin was in the Upper Peninsula snowmobiling with several of his powerboat racing friends when he was in an accident that took his life instantly.
Kevin was raised in and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1990. He recently resided in Whitmore Lake, working for 10 years as a Senior Engineer at the Toyota Technical Center.
Kevin was mostly known for being an avid boat racer. He began racing at the age of 13 and was inducted into the Hall of Championship two times for the modified and stock categories. More recently, Kevin became a successful driver in the OPC Champboat series. In his 2007 rookie season he won two races and finished 3rd in total points.
Along with enjoying his hobbies, Kevin was a loving husband, father, and family man. He married his wife, Kelly Pater, of St. Joseph, December 27, 2003. He was the proud father of Kori Addison Ladd, who was born May 5, 2007. Through their blessed time together Kevin spent hours adoring and dancing with Kori, traveling, and boating with his girls.
Kevin is survived by his wife and daughter, mother and step-father, Karl and Kathy Hosten, father, Bud Ladd, sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Bob Jaros, nephews and niece, Nolan, Ryan, and Lauren Jaros, grandparents Art and Babe Penz, aunt Bonnie Goodwin, uncle Ron Ladd, several cousins, in-laws Joe, Mary Ann, Amy and CJ Pater, and several extended boat racing families.
Visitation is from 5-8, Thursday, at Keehn Funeral Home in Brighton. Funeral services are at 4 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Brighton.
